Study - Spiritual Discipline

• Discipline of study is so important for transformation, it should be part of normal church life for all Christians.


• Study is the Spiritual Discipline in which the mind takes on an order conforming to the order of whatever it is concentrating on.


• The function of study is not to amass knowledge but to come to know a life, the life of God and the life of Jesus Christ.



•The four steps of study are these:

  1. Repetition—repeated exposure.

  2. Concentration—focus, intensity, and intentionality.

  3. Comprehension—the “aha” of deep understanding.

  4. Reflection—considering the significance of what we are studying.
